Laundry detergent was a significant expense for my family of five. With a husband who works outside in dirty environments and three little kids who love adventure, we were using up to two packages of 85-count Tide Pods monthly. Yes, you read that correctly—Tide Pods! That's a topic for another blog post, as you definitely learn as you go. On average, I spent $54 a month on laundry detergent, but after switching to Thieves Laundry Detergent, my spending dropped to around $50 a YEAR! How satisfying is that?! Here’s how I break it down:
Thieves Laundry Soap: $33.25*
Thieves Household Cleaner: $25.50*
Lemon Essential Oil: $13.00*
The total investment is $71.75. I know you may be wondering how my annual spending averages $50 when the total is $71.75. Here's the breakdown: I split the Thieves Laundry soap in half; you could stretch it even further if your family isn't hard on clothing like mine. This reduces the cost of laundry soap to $16.62 for each bottle. Additionally, you only use 1 cup of the thieves household cleaner for each bottle, so one bottle lasts 6 loads of laundry, which is about $4.25. A 15 ML bottle of lemon essential oil contains nearly 250 drops, and I typically use about 30 drops per batch of laundry soap, which means I can utilize one bottle of lemon essential oil for 8 batches, costing just $1.62.
Now let's do the math! For one bottle of laundry soap, when adding all the ingredients, the total comes to about $22.49, and that bottle lasts an average of 5-6 months for my family of five. This means I end up spending around $44.98 each year on laundry soap! Moreover, being a member of Young Living means you can receive rewards each month to purchase these products for free!
What a fantastic way to save money while using products that are free from harmful ingredients! Now let's get to the fun part—making it!
